New

My super exciting news (which some of you already knew and most of you probably guessed): I accepted a job offer! I was told I was going to receive an offer from this company about two weeks ago, but didn't want to "announce" it until I officially accepted it, which I did via phone while in Lahaina on Wednesday.

Maria Honolua

I start next Monday and couldn't be more scared and excited. It's been five whole years since I've had a first day of a new job and I don't know what to expect. But, I'm motivated and ready to start the new chapter.

And since you are probably wondering...I'll be a a Project Coordinator working for the Learning and Development team of a social networking company. The perks will be sweet (free lunches, free gym, Philz Coffee on campus), but what I am most looking forward to is being apart of a small team that seems to have a lot of fun and stays very busy. Busy makes me happy.

I'm spending the week mentally preparing myself for the new job and taking care of some loose ends around here (taxes, cleaning out closets, errands, etc.). And, of course, shopping for new clothes.

So...Hawaii last week and new job next week. Life is good, my friends.

Thanks so much for your kind emails and support as I went through this crazy career transition!

And now, tell me about your last first day of your current job. You survived, right? Please leave words of wisdom below.

  1. Words of wisdom...I have none haha! The only thing I know is that you are smart, capable and a hard-worker, not to mention I'm sure everyone that meets you will love you! No worries for a new job. ;)

It's hard to admit, but I think starting a job is the hardest part for me. I like to say I'm a fast learner, but I feel like I need to study every detail about a job before I feel totally comfortable and capable. Once that newness and apprehension wears off then I'm a total star at work. ;)

Good luck friend! So excited for you!

  2. Thanks so much, Amanda. I'm very similar to you...I think I'm a fast learner, but mostly, I just like to absorb everything first before acting upon it. After time has passed, I know I'll feel confident again, but I need to be patient. It will come!

CONGRATS!! Exciting and what a better way to spend the last few days of unemployment than a vacation in Hawaii!

  8. Phew. I DID know the news.

I'm not a horrible friend after all.

My job offers free coffee. But it's not very good. [Don't tell the custodian who makes it.]
