I wanted to update my About section of my blog and was having trouble with it and just decided to write an FAQ. Except, I don't get any frequently asked questions, so I created my own. Narcissism at its finest, people.

Check it out up there ^ or click here.
...
Also, here's what's going on in my life right now, question-form.
1 ) WHAT'S UP WITH THE JOB HUNTING?
I have been filling in for my friend at her clothing boutique and she returns from her vacation this week, so my days helping people pick out clothes (totally unqualified for this) are soon over. I'm still on the job hunt though and have received a couple offers, which I turned down. They just didn't feel right to me and since I'll be devoting 40+ hours a week to this new job, I want to make sure it's the right one.
I have learned that as you get further along in your career, interviewing becomes less about you trying to impress the company and more about seeing if the company is a good fit for you It really takes the pressure off interviewing and gives you some control over the conversation. I'm getting closer to figuring out what I want to do though and have some promising interviews coming up. I had thought about seeing a career counselor at some point, but I'm not there yet. One step at a time.
2 ) I THOUGHT YOU GOING TO BUY A HOUSE? WHAT HAPPENED TO THAT?
Brandon and I very careful spenders. It may seem like we just jet off to tropical islands on the drop of a hat, but we do a ton of research for major purchases, and with a house being the biggest purchase of our lives, you better bet we are still in the research stage of it. Brandon has made detailed spreadsheets on our finances and we watched Khan Academy videos on the subject of buying the Bay Area.
After I (hopefully) get a full time job offer, we are going to the mortgage broker to get pre-approved. We haven't done this yet because of my job situation and because the house we want (we are about 80-90% sure we want in on a new development nearby) has yet to be built. It will be completed in the fall and pre-approvals only last a few months.
If we get it, I'll be sure to share more. I just don't want to get my hopes up too much at this point. Though I can't help picking out paint colors and browsing for new furniture.
3 ) HOW'S YOUR KNEE?
Why thank you for asking.
I should have gone to physical therapy, but I didn't. Do as I say, not as I do. Instead, I've been lifting to build up my quads and I have seen some improvement. Walking up and down the stairs doesn't make me wince in pain anymore, so I think this might be behind me.
Also, I RAN on Sunday. I went to a nearby park and I did some walking/jogging (wogging, as Brittany would say). I took it slow and experienced no pain at all. It was amazing. Since I was nice and warmed-up, I finished with some sprints. Normally, I hate running, but I can't tell ya how awesome it felt to get in a more hardcore workout.
4 ) ARE YOU GOING TO BLEND?
Yes! And you should really go too. Think summer camp + really good workouts + intelligent and inspiring people + tons of swag. Go. Only a few tickets left at $100, then the price goes up after Friday!

Welp, those were all my questions. I'm not too shy...just figured you'd tell me when you were ready. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I said 'welp.'
And #4? Well that just about made my LIFE.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you are coming to Blend! Can we wog together there?? ;) I'm so glad about your knee. Mine has been doing better also! Maybe I can make it on a whole hike this time!! I think Brandon and Luvy were cut out from the same mold!
ReplyDeleteYes, absolutely! If there is any running involved, I will wog with you. I'm very slow since I haven't ran in over a year and even then, I was a slow runner. Hopefully Park City has a lower elevation than Boulder...I still say that was the hardest hike of my life :)
ReplyDeleteHahahahah! I've often considered writing my own FAQ.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of jobs are you looking at?

...I just wanted to make sure this made this next list of FAQ.
Glad to hear the knee is doing better! And wahoo for BLEND! I hope flights and all work out for me!
I'm mostly looking for a nonprofit, counseling or HR-related positions. Anything working with people and involving lots of communication.
ReplyDeleteYes, (Brandon is coming too) are hoping the flights go down. They are $350 from CA and it's not even that far away!
